HOW WE WORK: TEN STEPS TO A SUCCESSFUL SEARCH
Successful search is both a science and an art. Like a science, it is a well-defined, logical process. The art of the process lies in your consultant's ability to understand even your unstated needs, to tailor the search to meet your requirements and to move creatively through the industry in which your search is centered. To move easily through the Ten Steps to a Successful Search, click on any step in the chart below.
Step 1: Consulting with You, the Client
Fully understanding your needs is the most vital step in setting the direction for the search. Your initial discussion with a Jones Management principal should result in a complete understanding of your company, your culture and the specific search requirements. When we create the profile, we'll zero in on the specific attributes - both tangible and intangible - you seek. We'll determine the responsibilities, technical background, personality and potential required for the position. We'll gain a clear understanding of the compensation, career path, benefits, relocation requirements and other relevant employment policies.
Step 2: Confirmation
To ensure that we're in sync, we'll confirm the results of our discussion in writing, including a position description, length of time anticipated to complete the search and fee arrangements. At that time, we may also feed back to you our thoughts on the competitiveness of the proposed compensation arrangements. Acceptance of our written confirmation signals the beginning of the assignment.
Step 3: Research
Executives with the credentials, the drive and the sense to succeed personally and professionally can be difficult to find. But not for us. We're connected. Our search professionals have the skills, the technology and resources to find the individuals that meet your criteria. Potential candidates are identified by conducting systematic research through our own extensive contact network, by determining and contacting target companies, and by conferring with associates in related fields. Another key resource to our search team is our research department, where our experienced research staff utilizes state-of-the-art information retrieval and matching systems, including the World-Wide Web and our proprietary software.
Step 4: Evaluation
Our goal is to have a clear picture of the "person behind the person," and what might make the candidate successful in your environment. We develop a profile with first-hand knowledge of the candidate's ability, employment history, management talents, personality and technical skills.
Step 5: Investigation
Once a candidate is considered for an offer of employment, we conduct a comprehensive background check. Often this involves use of our sources, public records, as well as a complete review of references furnished by the candidates.
Step 6: Communication
Throughout the search process, we maintain ongoing communications, keeping you up-to-date on our progress and briefing you on suitable prospective candidates. Together we will create a short list who will proceed to the next step.
Step 7: Assessment
Interviews between selected candidates and your internal search team are next. Prior to each meeting, we provide you with a report detailing the candidate's business experience, educational background and compensation record, along with our own first-hand observations and professional appraisal.
Step 8: Negotiations
Once mutual interest has been established, we will assist in negotiating compensation, employment contracts, relocation allowances and other details.
Step 9: Closure
To ensure the successful completion of each assignment, we will stay with you through the transition. Although many consider this stage simple, we believe that the initial stages of transition are extremely important to a successful placement.
Step 10: Retention
Together, we'll create a strategy to ensure that our search was time well spent. Getting someone good is important. But, we don't stop there. Retention is a win-win situation. You get a long-term employee and we understand that our future relationship depends on keeping that someone on your staff.
