CANDIDATES: POSITION DESCRIPTION
General Manager
Reports To Chief Executive Officer Location Fairfield County, Connecticut The Company A five year old growth company with a proven and patented hi-tech product in the sports and marketing industries. This position will be a significant member of the senior management. Scope and Responsibility The primary function of this position is to develop, manage and to lead the overall marketing, sales, engineering, finance, manufacturing, distribution, service and other operations areas of the company. This General Manager will be responsible for the planning, budgeting and managing the financial results of the company. He or she will direct two group managers initially (engineering and sales) Together they supervise a staff of approximately 10 professional and service personnel. This person must assess the current staff, recruit new employees where appropriate, train and motivate to reach the growth goals of the organization. The General Manager will be directly involved in all marketing and sales efforts including attendance at trade shows, sales to major accounts, building strategic partnerships and all marketing of licensing opportunities. It will be a goal of this position to further enhance the excellent reputation of quality product while maximizing the increase in shareholder value that comes from being a very low-cost operation. A new generation of the core products will be introduced in the near future. In addition, manufacturing operations maybe transitioning to another outside contract manufacturer. This person must lead the transition, seek out production efficiencies and improvements and assure on-time deliveries for the successful launch of the next generation of products. Background Required Qualifications: This professional must have significant marketing and/or operations experience with an understanding and interest in technology. He or she must have accented to a well recognized and significant position. It is extremely important that the candidate be marketing and sales oriented. The ideal experience in operations management would be one which is broad rather than narrow. Since this position will serve as a confidant, business partner and strategist to the Founder, the person must be a seasoned professional who possesses the degree of sophistication and status required to lead the operations. Education: A college degree displaying superior performance is required or other advanced educational degree would be desirable. If the individual has engineering degree it is a plus. In addition, it would be desirable that the individual had been involved in competitive sports. Interpersonal Traits: The individual must be a team player who wants to market and sell the company products. He or she must be very hands-on, possess significant courage of conviction and demonstrate leadership. The General Manager must be dynamic, have a high level of energy and have a good practical understanding of the engineering, manufacturing and sourcing processes. The executive must be able to command respect of those currently within the company. He/she must exhibit exceptional business judgment and provide realistic solutions to everyday problems. This operations leader must be able to "add value" with creativity and be entrepreneurial. Compensation The target base annual salary compensation will be approximately $125,000 to $150,000. The individual will also be eligible for participation in the company's discretionary incentive bonus program which will be based on mutually agreed upon corporate goals and objectives. He or she will also be eligible for medical coverage and other corporate benefits. In addition, this person will be eligible for equity participation through the current incentive option program.
