Chief Financial Officer - Major industry trade association

Scope and Responsibility
  • Leads financial, human resource and information technology areas for the entire organization and affiliates such as the foundation and international trade group.
  • Provides overall leadership to accounting systems and procedures, reporting, documentation and controls.
  • Develops and enhances financial reporting systems and provides management and Board with timely and accurate reporting of company performance.
  • Leads financial planning and budgeting efforts for short and longer term business plans. Initiates, inputs and monitors financial data, insuring accuracy and timelines of information.
  • Establishes and maintains external relations for the financial community, including bank relations, accounting firms and insurance and benefit communities.
  • Manages Board Investment Committee relations.
  • Evaluates the organization's financial and operational performance and initiates action to improve and correct performance. Focuses on budget/financial matters. Offers input to other performance standards.
  • Keeps current on developments which impact financial and operational performance, including tax, economic, software/hardware, security and human resources matters.
  • Manages accounting structure surrounding trade show marketing, sales, operations and overhead costs. Evaluates performance against budget.
  • Insures organization compliance on regulatory matters, such as Sabannes-Oxley.
  • Provides leadership to overall company performance and actively participates as a member of the senior management team.
  • Provides leadership to staffing, training and development, especially relating to the financial functions.
  • Principal safeguard of company assets.
  • Handles administrative matters, such as payroll, insurance/benefit plans, employee records and general office management.

  • Qualifications
    The Chief Financial Officer must have a BS in accounting or related field, CPA / MBA desirable with a minimum of ten to fifteen years of experience. The successful candidate must have excellent budgeting, forecasting and planning skills. The individual must have a good working knowledge of technology and software applications. This person must be detail oriented, autonomous and a self-starter.

    The personal characteristics are as important as the technical skills and include intelligence, high energy, assertiveness, unquestionable integrity and ethics. He or she must be able to function very effectively in a team environment, be a player/coach type, someone, who is creative, solutions driven, analytical and a quick study. Of course, the successful candidate must be mature, self-confident and a natural bridge builder with members for the overall good of the organization.

    Compensation
    The target base salary compensation will be a range of $150,000 to $175,000 plus an annual discretionary bonus based on mutually defined goals and objectives of 10 - 20% (approximately $15,000 to $35,000). The individual will also be eligible for participation in the other excellent organization benefits.
