Assistant Controller - Publicly Held Internet Marketing Company

Scope and Responsibility
To play an integral role in ensuring the integrity, accuracy and timely reporting of internal financial information for the Company's Accounting Department. The focus for this position is in the areas of inventory, telemarketing, direct mail, payroll, accounts payable and fixed assets. This position is responsible for ensuring that the workflow of the staff is efficient and prioritized and that the mission and goals of the department are clearly communicated with an action plan for their achievement.

Essential Job Responsibilities, Duties, Tasks:
  • Oversee the day-to-day activities, workflow and priorities of the Inventory, General Accounting and Accounts Payable areas.
  • Ensure that the general ledger accounts and account reconciliations for the Inventory, General Accounting and Accounts Payable areas are accurate and completed in a timely manner.
  • Assist with the compilation of accurate internal financial statements.
  • Ensure that all cash disbursements have proper supporting documentation, signatures, and meet terms.
  • Ensure that all policies and procedures are adhered to or modified to meet the current needs of the company and are in compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley.
  • Identify and implement automated processes to decrease manual input and increase analysis and workflow efficiencies.
  • Work with auditors on Company's core requests.

  • This position is responsible for directly supervising 1 Senior Manager, 1 Senior Accountant and 1 Staff Accountant.

  • Required: Knowledge/Skills/Abilities/Experience/Education
  • BS in Accounting, CPA or MBA in Accounting is desired
  • 5+ years of accounting experience in a mid-size public company
  • Must be a team player, self-starter and a pro-active problem solver
